description

Bascinet must be the most popular type of medieval closed helmets. Only chapel could compete in popularity with it; though, wearers of these helmets were quite different. Shape of bascinet helmet notably varied not only in different historical period, but also depending on the area of wearer’s living.

But, in our humble opinion, spherical conical shape of dome with a center, shifted to the back – this one was the most widespread on the territory of the West Europe. “Roman d'Alexandre”, dated by the XII century with paintings of the XIV century is inexhaustible source in this issue. So, our stylization of medieval bascinet was based on the paintings from this collection of legends.

As for the bascinet visor, so we could not decide which one to make, when choosing among great variety. Each of them is the best by itself, but we had to choose an ideal one for a battle, with good protective qualities, perfect visibility and easy breathing… And, a good-looking one, of course:) But, we found a needed one in this manuscript. One half of it is covered with breathing holes; the second half has only two rows of holes. That design allows perfect ventilation and adds individuality to your bacinete.

Besides, this cool medieval helmet has extra bonus, our own innovation – visor lock pin for tournament. It is quite often when an opponent cut off the lock-on button or fixating visor belts. This trouble will not only automatically stop your participation in tournament, but also threaten your safety. So, to protect you from such harm, we have added through holes in the visor and dome from the both sides. Before the serious heavy battle, pass bolts through them, tighten the screw-nut and be sure that your visor will stay at place.

So, there is cross functional battle bascinet helmet. Dome and visor are hammered out of the top-quality cold-rolled steel of 2.0 mm. Buckles and rivets are steel too. The thickest and softest cotton liner is riveted from the inside. Helmet is fixed with the firmest leather belts and has supplemental restraint system. It is also supplied with croupon leather strap for mail or brigandine aventail (you may order is at our medieval shop as well).

Helmet bascinet in the medieval style is perfect to the last rivet and suited for a real battle.

By the way, you may choose any type and thickness of metal and finish treatment by your wish (amazing blackened (hammered) finish treatment we make for free!).
