Meet the new, chic gambeson from Steel Mastery, named after the great French heroine. This versatile pourpoint model is equally suited for both men and ladies, thanks to its unique cut based on miniatures and descriptions of the four-parted purpuène typical of the early 15th century.
The authoritative researcher Adrien Harmand, in his study “Jeanne d'Arc, son costume, son armure: essai de reconstitution,” states that Joan of Arc likely wore padded armor of this specific cut. Contemporaries of the Maid of Orleans frequently mentioned her preference for black, reflecting her modesty and piety.
This stylish yet modest linen gambeson is decorated with silver-stamped French heraldic lilies (fleur-de-lis), the symbol of France. In heraldry, silver represents the color white, symbolizing the purity and innocence for which the Maid of Orleans is renowned.
Unique Fastening: Note the elegant new fastening style—lacing with a leather cord through steel rings stitched onto the gambeson. This method is historically accurate and fully compliant with reconstruction standards. However, upon request, we can replace it with leather laces, straps, metal or fabric-covered buttons, or standard lacing through eyelets.
Padding & Protection: This model comes with one layer of padding, but we can increase this up to five layers. While we can add even more, we strongly advise against it, as it significantly reduces mobility.
Customization: While Jeanne d'Arc preferred modesty, we offer full flexibility. We can craft your pourpoint in a variety of materials: linen, cotton, wool, velvet, jacquard, or leather.

If you don’t like the received product for any reason, you may send it back to us within 14 days. If the received item has defects or does not fit your parameters, we will make a new item and send it to you at our costs. If postal service lost your parcel, we make a search of it. If parcel could not be found, we make new item at our expenses.
We ship orders via National Postal Service, who carries order to your local post office. Upon shipping, we provide you with tracking number of parcel. If you need express delivery (DHL, TNT, etc.), please contact us.
Every product is handcrafted and requires time for manufacture. Approximate time:
- Gambeson and padded armor – 8-9 weeks;
- Costumes and other clothing – 4-6 weeks;
- Brigandines – 3-4 months;
- Leather accessories 2-4 weeks;
- Metal armor – 2-5 months.
