description

Splinted bracers are a type of medieval body armor, which was widespread in the XIV-XVI centuries and was very popular among the European and Asian warriors.

Peculiarity of this knight protection is narrow metal strips (splints), riveted from the inner and outer parts of leather of thick cloth base. Such combination of fabric/leather and metal made this armor easy-to-make and not expensive. Splinted armor has good protecting qualities; it is light and comfortable in use.

There are many medieval sources (miniatures, gravures, effigies), where you may see similar knight body armor.

For manufacture of this medieval arm defense, our crafters use firm but elastic croupon leather of thickness 3.5-4 mm. There are leather belts with steel buckles installed for the fixation on the arm. Holes on the top of bracer allows lacing them to your padded gambeson.

You can use this functional brigandine forearm protection for:

  • SCA

  • Larp
  • Stage performances
