Unique scale necklace, rare neck armor for those, who value unusual medieval artifacts.

To be honest, scale aventails weren't such a rarity through the XIVth century, but we were looking for necklace and we found it! At Saint Martin's Church in Halle, Belgium. Tabernacle is dated to the very beginning of the XVth century.

This protective equipment element appeared in the middle - second half of the XIIIth century in Italy. And by the end of XIIIth - beginning of the XIVth century spread to many European countries of the Mediterranean Sea basin, including the Balkans. Apparently, from this region it went to East Europe in the second half of the XIVth century.

Has a form of standing collar with a drape (mantle). Soft and strong leather base covered by plates (scales) with mutual overlap by riveting to a leather base. Standing collar is also reinforced with metal plates. Besides, plate necklace's buckles and belts are placed in the front for your convenience.

Pay attention - you will also need a quilted drape like padded pelerine or aventail to complete this necklace.

Base model includes following options:

  • Scales made of 1 mm hardened steel;
  • Steel rivets and buckles;
  • Hard leather base and belts.

If you want to customise it a little bit, you can order engraving, embossing, polishing or any other decoration of scales. Scales could also be made of other metal, in shape and size. If you want any changes, just contact us via email [email protected].
