Milano Hourglass Gauntlets 1370-1390 years
Gauntlets are made in stylisation based on the well-known hand armor from Museo Nazionale del Bargello (Florence)and armor from Chuburg castle. One of the most famous examples of hourglass gauntlets is the pair that was created in Milano, 1370 ca. Since 1390 gauntlets featured scaled or articulated plate fingers.
Hourglass gauntlets were made of steel and were designed to fit snugly over the hands and wrists of the wearer. They were shaped like an hourglass, with a narrow middle section that allowed for greater flexibility and movement. The gauntlets were decorated with intricate brass decoration in acorn and geometrical style.
