Helmet from Tagancha (Ukraine), XIII century

Helmet from place called Tagancha, Porosie (Cherkasy region, Ukraine) was found in rich burial place and is considered to be high-status type of helmet. It is dated middle-end of XIII century - the early period of Golden Horde. Type II B in helmets' classification of A. Kirpichnikov.

Dome has bell-shaped form and consists of two flush jointed pieces. Finial with spike is riveted to the crown. High spike is evident Mongolian sign.

Forehead nasal plate with eye cutouts is also riveted. Upper figured part of plate has cross-shaped ward.

There are loops for aventail in the lower outer part of helmet. Leather chin belt with buckle is installed from the inner side.

This Rus helm is completely handcrafted by customer parameters. We recommend to use it together with mail coif for face protection.
