Descrizione

Medieval shoulder blades are a good pauldrons choice, but also an interesting armor element with its own story and features you will undoubtedly be interested to know of.

Their story begins a long long time ago, somewhere between the late XVth - early XVIth century. Now it seems like a brutal tale, but in Medieval times, there was a man whose courage and skill, strength and luck led him through the heat of battle. His life was bright like a shooting star but just as short... However, it wasn’t always that bad if this brave warrior had time to concern about decent armor to protect himself in battle.

This man – English archer – wore plate spaulders. This cool guy’s outfit wasn’t that fashionable in the capital, however, trendy in Surrey. Simple chain mail, almost like this one (only a little bit shorter plus made of stainless steel), worn under the leather jack, and cabasset on the head. But the most interesting armor part was the shoulder blades that he got as a trophy from the fallen knight (do not ask how this happened, believe me – you don’t want to know).

These medieval plate spaulders – one of the best types of functional armor for fighters who want to keep their body safe. This is real armor, replica of its ancestor, adapted for modern historical fencing standards. Made solely by our blacksmith's hands and hammers, they are equally good for SCA, HEMA, Reenactment, Larp events, Stage performances, Medieval festivals.

Medieval shoulder blades include the following options:

  • 1 mm thick cold rolled steel;
  • Satin polishing;
  • High-quality leather straps;
  • Steel buckles;
  • Steel rivets.

When you deal with Steel Mastery, you get custom-made high-quality medieval armor – reliable while comfortable in wearing for a long time and made by experienced blacksmiths. If you want to upgrade it somehow, additional options are available. For true connoisseurs of knight's plate shoulders of XVth-XVIth centuries, we recommend to look at: Milanese pauldrons, XVth century second half, plate shoulders, XVIth century, plate pauldrons, end- XVIth century or any other in spaulders section. Note that it will be more comfortable if you wear them over one of our Medieval Gambesons.
