How to take measurements for arms armor

How to take measurements for arms armor 2019-09-11

When taking measurements for any item, please be very careful. As good fit of item depends on the correctness and accuracy of taken parameters.

Use only soft measuring tape.

Please take measurements over padded gambeson, on which you plan to wear plate or brigandine arms’ protection, or chainmail/hauberks.

For making of medieval armor, we need the following parameters of your arm:

1. Bicep circumference

  • slightly tense you bicep;
  • hold one end of tape on bicep and wrap tape around it;

2. Elbow circumference

  • hold one end of tape on the crease of elbow;
  • wrap tape around the elbow;

3. Forearm circumference

  • hold one end of tape in the middle of your forearm;
  • wrap tape around the it;

4. Wrist circumference

  • hold one end of tape in the middle of your wrist, closer to the wrist bend;
  • wrap tape around the it;

5. Length of inner side of upper part of arm

  • hold one end of tape at the armpit;
  • stretch the tape to the crease of elbow;

6. Length of inner side of forearm

  • hold one end of tape at the crease of elbow;
  • stretch the tape to the wrist bend;

7. Length of outer side of upper part of arm

  • hold one end of tape at the shoulder joint;
  • stretch the tape to the elbow joint;

8. Length of outer side of forearm

  • hold one end of tape at the elbow joint;
  • stretch the tape to the wrist bend;
