Descrizione
Puffed sleeves doublet was the most spreading model in the second half of XV century.
More often, doublet was thin and tight. Both, usual footmen and gentle knights were wearing such doublet.
Quite often, tailors were adding leather straps to reinforce padded gambeson armour. Such straps were sewn vertically on the body part of gambison.
This padded gambeson is designed according to historical patterns.
Made-to-measure gambeson coat may be sewn by two ways:
- Machine manufacturing. Tailors will make padded armor by your parameters, using sewing machine.
- Hand sewing. Custom gambeson will be completely sewn by hands of our tailors. Such type of manufacture is historical one and is offered for additional costs.
You can use this gambeson armor for:

- HEMA
- Larp
- Stage performances
- Medieval festivals
- Reenactment events
Base price includes following options:
- 1-2 layers of padding (natural sheet wadding 50% cotton, 50% wool);
- Natural (uncoloured) cotton for outer and inner shell;
- Standard sleeves’ attaching (closed armpit);
- XS-size;
- Leather laces as a fastenings;
- Straight bottom edge.
Main photo shows doublet with following options:
- 2 layers of padding;
- White velvet for outer shell;
- Standard sleeves’ attaching (closed armpit);
- XL-size;
- buttons covered with fabric;
- Straight bottom edge.
Various materials and color are available for order for this padded gambeson. Such fabrics as leather, velvet or linen used for sewing, will let to show social status of owner. For fastening, there are metal buttons or buttons covered with fabric, leather belts with different cast buckles. On the wristbands, there are leather lacing, which allow tightening.
We offer different quantity of layers for your light gambeson vest. If you plan to wear quilted underamor under the hauberk, so 5-6 layers will be required. If there will be full-plate armor or brigandine, so 2-3 layers of wadding is enough.
If you choose half-coloured or quarter-coloured padded jacket, please inform us by e-mail, what colours you prefer and its exact disposition.
