Ottoman Empire padded caftan is the excellent choice for anyone interested in Ottoman Empire and Seljuks costumes reconstruction and the eastern culture in general. This caftan is a replica of an artifact from Mevlana Museum (Turkey) and is perfect for a fashion oriental look from XIIIth to XVth century.
Austere and luxurious at the same time, it is traditionally made in the Oriental clothing of the Middle Ages - rather tight-fitting body and a wide hem.
The fastening, quite common in those centuries, was not up to the hem of the garment, but small buttons up to the level just below the waist.
Pay special attention to the collar. Our green caftan – main picture – has not the same as the original, not a stand-up collar, but a lapel collar. This was a special customer request, but for you, we can make it exactly the same as in the museum artifact, or folded, or remove it altogether - whatever you want.
Long sleeves to the very wrists do not constrain movement at all thanks to a special cut in the armpit area.
Our Ottoman caftan – main picture - is made of linen; however, it may be covered with wool, silk, brocade or any other fabric, as you wish. However, we strongly recommend you to choose linen for lining.
Pay special attention to the caftan collar, it is a custom-made model, and we can change it according to your wishes. The same goes for the buttons. They can be of your choice and can also be replaced with ties.
