Odin, father of gods an people, was a great humorist. He was ruling Asgard and Æsir not only with powerful arm and with not too adequate decisions, but, on the spur of moment, he often went down into Midgard – to wander among the people for a while, to listen tittle-tattle, to drink some ale and simply to have a good time.
As a rule, Odin was wandering in his own look of one-eyed elder, who wears a cloak and hat with wide flaps, with two talking ravens on his shoulders – Huginn and Muninn… And, he was scratching his head - why do people recognize him?
Well, yes, only feeble-minded Viking could not take this one-eyed old man, wearing a cloak, with broadbrim, staff and two raven on the shoulder for Odin. So, wishing to wander without needless excitement and crowd of fans, he was choosing the less remarkable and recognizable public image. On one occasion, he was travelling in the simplest style and traditional Viking clothing. The one, which you see now here.
Those days, father worn top-quality linen shirt with hand embroidery. It isn’t that he had a special choice, but now, when the majority prefers not to mess about such finicky job, but to broider with a machine, Steel Mastery venerates traditions and stitch embroidery on historically accurate Viking clothing only by hands.
You may see such shirt on the men's figurine in the scene of parade on the Oseberg tapestry.
Odin chose pants, made of linen, typical medieval viking clothing for common Viking – simple, but durable. Such pants had been founded in Damendorf.
On the shirt, one-eyed man put a woolen coat with trim on edges, which is fastened with buttons covered with fabric. Not wrapping one, as he tried to look as a common land holder, not a warrior. Simple and presentably.
As usually, we offer you to order this custom-made costume in other fabrics and color, than shown on the photos.
This Viking period outfit includes:

Stock items may be returned within 14 days if unused. Return shipping is covered by the customer; refunds apply to item price only. Custom-made items are non-refundable unless there is a manufacturing defect or our mistake, in such cases we will remake or refund at our expense. Lost parcels are covered — we will investigate and resend if needed.
By default, all orders are shipped via Ukrainian National Post or Nova Poshta, at the sole discretion of Steel Mastery. The carrier delivers the parcel to your local postal service or pickup point. Tracking details are provided after dispatch. Express courier services (such as DHL, etc.) are available only upon request via email and are subject to additional cost and confirmation.
Custom-made items require production time before shipment. Estimated production time:
- Leather accessories – 2–4 weeks;
- Clothes – 2–8 weeks;
- Gambeson and padded armor – 8–12 weeks;
- Brigandines – 1–3 months;
- Metal armor – 2–7 months.
