This new elbow protection model represents one of the most favored designs among infantrymen, squires, and knights during the late 14th and early 15th centuries. Its robust construction offered excellent protection while maintaining flexibility, a crucial feature for soldiers in both hand-to-hand combat and mounted engagements. The articulated plates allowed for natural movement, ensuring the wearer’s mobility was not compromised in battle.

The design is based on historical sources from the Museum of Fine Arts in Chartres, dating back to 1380. Armorers during this period were refining their techniques, focusing on improving joint protection without sacrificing comfort. This elbow armor was frequently paired with full plate armor, creating a nearly impenetrable defense for the warrior. It was particularly valued for its ability to deflect blows from swords, maces, and axes, weapons commonly used during this era.
