Representative of the higher social classes were wearing aketons made of expensive materials, such as velvet or silk. For fastening, there were buttons of precious metals or pearls. People from lower orders were wearing doublets sewn of linen or cotton with metal or wooden buttons.

Padded gambeson of blue or green colors are the most popular, but in options you may choose wine-red, brown or other colors.

Quantity of padding layer depends on the main armour. If you plan to wear medieval gambeson vest under the hauberk, so 5-6 layers will be required. If there will be usual plate armour or brigandine, so 2-3 layers of natural wadding is enough for your light gambeson.

Various color are available for order. If you choose half-coloured or quarter-coloured gambeson jacket, please inform us by e-mail, what colours you prefer and its exact disposition.

If you plan to use plate arms or spaulders over your aketon armor, we recommend you to order leather fastenings for steel arms.

There are two layers of padding in sleeves by default. If you want to change it, please contact us [email protected]
