Exterior view and general characteristics of lamellar armour depend on the type, size and shape of plates, which are used for manufacture. Size and shape of lamellar plates were considerably varying in countries during different periods of time. Quantity of holes in plates was very important as well. According to the surviving ancient evidences, lamellar plate could have from 4 to 13 holes. Edges of holes were carefully polished to avoid rubbing of leather cord.
Reliability of body defense with double row of cord was much higher, than armour with one row. Every separate element was held up with the nearest plate in the horizontal rows. Besides, partial overlapping of plates made armour even more durable.
Lamellar plates from this section will help you to create custom body armour. For linking of plates, you can use leather or synthetic cord. Such armour will be perfect for reenactment events, medieval fencing or LARP.
