Half-greaves of the XIV-XVI centuries are the popular shin guard among medieval soldiers – as mounted, so dismounted. In combination with cuisses (thigh armor) and kneecaps, these greaves created full leg defense, comfortable and good protecting at the same time.
These plate greaves protect the front part of calf, though backside is left uncovered. Leather belts with steel or brass buckles keep armor reliably on the leg.
