Descripción

One of our clients wished to have "plate gauntlets for real buhurt."

Well, for all the reenactors who sometimes like fighting in "old-fashioned buhurt" style, we present hand protection, as hard and brutal as it can be.

But we did more – these gauntlets are also suitable for those who are engaged in ISF (sports), however, want their armor to look similar to historical. The gauntlets accord to the end of the XIVth – first third of the XVth century period while qualifying for NIE and IMSF requirements.

These gauntlets’ design is based on two historical sources:

* Statue from the city of Nuremberg dated from 1370.

* "St. George in kasten-brust" wooden gilded statue from the Cathedral of Nuremberg.

Both are German, so we can assume that this type of gauntlets is typical for Germany region and neighboring ones.

Cuff is a typical “hourglass” – just like plate gauntlets with a characteristic narrow wrist and wide cuff and knuckles.

Protection from knuckles to fingertips consists of assembled parallel stripes fastened together by rivets on both sides.

Notice the thumb’s closed tip – it’s made specifically for SCA events considering nowadays it’s a regular practice to protect fingers in such a manner.

Another battle modification – no buckles. No buckles – no weak points in hard battle!

You can also choose among two plate gauntlets modifications:

* Cuff (gait) is assembled of rivets – this modification provides mobility in your wrist.

* One-piece forged cuff – monolithic design with absolute protection.

As you can see, these gauntlets are suitable for HEMA, SCA or any other battle sport event. Even for some festivals and stage performances, if it would suddenly cross your mind.

Basic battle plate gauntlets model includes following options:

  • 1.0 mm thick steel
  • satin polishing
  • steel rivets 4.0 mm in diameter

Besides, our blacksmiths remind you: 1.2-1.5 mm thickness is the most optimal for hardened steel, 1.5 mm thickness – for any other.

Main photo shows gauntlets with following options:

  • 1.2 mm thick hardened steel
  • satin polishing
  • steel rivets 4.0 mm in diameter
  • sewn padded mittens

We are sure that 1.2 mm thick steel is enough, however, we can use thicker metal. Stainless, hardened, titanium... anything you’d like. Even decoration, why not?! Steel Mastery's forge is always at demanding customers’ disposal. All you need to do is to contact us via [email protected] about any additions or changes.

Buying battle plate gauntlets from Steel Mastery you’re getting:

* Real combat steel hand protection.

* Custom hands armor made to the highest standards just for you.

* Blacksmiths with over 15 years of experience.

* Payment systems fit every taste (PayPal, Skrill, Visa, MasterCard, American Express).

Moreover, we’ve got far more battle-ready gloves and gauntlets! For example LANDSKNECHT PLATE GLOVES and Milanese Style Gauntlets, aren't these cute? You can find much more in Metal fingered and mitten gauntlets section.

We also recommend you to complement your plate hand protection with a Buckler. Because there is just no reason for not buying a buckler!
