description

EARLY BLIAUT DRESS

The early bliaut dress of the 12th century holds a significant place in the history of medieval fashion, showcasing the evolving styles and social norms of the time. The term "bliaut" itself is derived from the Old French word "bliaud," meaning a long, flowing outer garment. This dress was a prominent feature of medieval European fashion, particularly in the 12th century, during the High Middle Ages.

Early bliauts were crafted from luxurious fabrics such as silk and were characterized by their loose, flowing silhouettes. The dress typically featured long, wide sleeves and a form-fitting bodice that accentuated the natural curves of the body. The length of the bliaut could vary, with some reaching the ankles while others were shorter, exposing the feet.

The bliaut was often cinched at the waist with a belt, creating a distinctive hourglass shape. The use of belts not only served a functional purpose in securing the dress but also added a decorative element. Some historical sources suggest that the bliaut could have a slight train, adding an extra layer of elegance to the garment.

Try to feel yourself like a sophisticated medieval Lady, delicate strolling through the hall of the castle or festival field at this medieval princess dress. Gentle picking up a long dress hem and hiding thin hands in the wide sleeves of your bliaut. Realize this dress is not just beautiful medieval woman costume, it allows any of modern woman to feel like a fragile lady of the 12th century, a damsel in distress or a beautiful lady in the window.

Very good quality and perfect fit for me. Beautiful dress. The only When you order dress and measuring the lenght of the dress, remember the dress become shorter when you put belt on. Friendly customer service. The only minus was long delivery time.
