description

You've been waiting for a long time, and we’ve finally made it – a Renaissance doublet with a jacquard cover. The luxurious little brother of Renaissance doublet (quilted).

Like its humble older brother, jacquard Renaissance doublet – also named farsetto – was a trendy men’s doublet clothing of the mid-XV century. It was popular from North to South Europe – equally among civilians as well as the military.

Stylish triangle-shaped silhouette with wide shoulders and thin waistline was a fashion trend of those times. In this jacquard, it was achieved by farsetto tightly fitting the body and chic puffs on sleeves’ upper parts.

The silhouette could vary from region to region: the further north a fashionista lived – the shorter and splendid puffs there were and fewer fastenings the doublet had.

We have a great variety of Renaissance period artists' paintings, so it's a joy to reproduce a farsetto nowadays.

We offer a generalized look of the farsetto – European Renaissance doublet of XV century – short tight silhouette, narrow sleeves with puffs, short and tough collar.

Doublet’s torso part is decorated with vertical stitching and puffs – with diamond-shaped stitching.

Base price includes following:

  • Color – monogram beige and brown
  • Men's size/prise – XS
  • Layers of padding – 2 layers
  • Fastenings – leather laces
  • DIY – no

Main photo shows gambeson with following options:

  • Color – monogram black and silver
  • Men's size/prise – L
  • Layers of padding – 2 layers
  • Fastenings – leather straps with cast buckles

And what’s even more wonderful about this medieval outfit – it could be used both as stylish warm clothing and underarmor.
