When taking measurements for any item, please be very careful. As good fit of item depends on the correctness and accuracy of taken parameters.
Use only soft measuring tape.
Please take measurements over padded gambeson, on which you plan to wear plate cuirass, breastplate or brigandine.
For making of medieval armor, we need the following parameters of your body:
1. Chest circumference on inspiration
- stand straight, make a breathing-in and wrap tape around your chest (above the breast);
- be sure, that it’s placed parallel to the floor;
- check that tape is not twisted;
2. Waist circumference on inspiration
- stand straight, make a breathing-in, find a waist (the thinnest part) and wrap tape around it;
- check that tape is not twisted;
3. Back width
- hold an end of tape under one armpit;
- measure the space between both armpits;
- note, that tape should not be straight, but must repeat a slight curve of your back;
4. Shoulder length
- place one end of the tape on the base of neck (curve) and the second one - on the shoulder joint;
- check that tape is not twisted;
- hold tape firmly and (if you take measures without helper) use a mirror to see measurement;
5. Trunk height from the rear
- place one end of tape on the upper neck bone;
- stretch tape till the waist level;
- note, that tape should not be straight, but must repeat a slight curve of your back;
6. Trunk height from the front
- place one end of tape on the base on neck (dimple);
- stretch tape till the waist level (belly-button);
- note, that tape should not be straight, but must repeat a slight curve of your body
