This helmet model is a copy of a real-life medieval helmet bascinet, which was copied from the medieval miniatures. Originally bascinet or bastsinet was support for the main helmet of cavalier – topfhelm (similar a pot). Topfhelm was good protection during a Cavalry attacks with a lance atilt. After the Cavalry attacks comes the turn to take up the melee weapons – swords, maces and axes. In such a case, tophelm was uncomfortable because of the bad review and ventilation. Therefore, under him were of a smaller helmet, which usually takes the contours of the head – bascinet. It was protecting from bumps the top and sides, leaving the face uncovered.
